Séfora Camazano is a contemporary painter based in Valencia, Spain. Her practice combines figurative painting, photography, digital image-making, Fine Art printing and hand-applied acrylic interventions.

Rather than separating painting from photography, Camazano works across both disciplines. The photographic image provides structure, gesture and physical presence, while painting introduces interpretation, atmosphere, texture and symbolic depth.

Her finished works are conceived as autonomous contemporary paintings. Each piece passes through multiple stages of construction until the original photograph is transformed into a layered visual object.

The human figure as
image, memory and symbol

Camazano’s work belongs to the field of contemporary figurative painting. The human figure remains central, not as a decorative subject, but as a carrier of biography, emotion and social meaning.

Her portraits are based on real people and real encounters. Many of the women represented have experienced migration, violence, displacement or profound personal transformation.

The painterly process does not erase their individuality. Instead, it enlarges their presence and allows their personal history to resonate beyond the limits of the original photographic session.

Scale plays an important role. By creating large-format works, Camazano gives the represented person a physical and symbolic space that resists invisibility.

Technique and material construction

From digital painting
to a hand-finished artwork

Each work begins with original photography created specifically for the project. The selected image is then reconstructed through an extensive digital painting process in which colour, light, composition and surface are developed in detail.

The resulting image is produced as a museum-quality Fine Art print on canvas or paper. This printed layer becomes the physical base for further intervention with acrylic paint, transparent glazes, texture and protective varnish.

The process allows Camazano to combine the precision of photography, the flexibility of digital painting and the physical presence of traditional materials. Every finished piece contains both reproducible and unrepeatable elements.

In unique works, the manual interventions, scale, material surface and final finish belong exclusively to that specific artwork.
