Freedom: The Art of Remembering Who You Are
January 22nd 2026
After the artistic project Female Portraits: Looking Back to the Past, I decided to write my first book.
A book born from one of the most iconic works in the collection: Liberty.
This book did not emerge as a planned editorial project.
It was born from an artwork.
From a real story.
And from a deep need for reflection.
Freedom: The Art of Remembering Who You Are begins with the portrait of Maryury, a woman who lived through an experience of violence and rebuilt her life from dignity. Her story appears in the book in her own words, without softening what was hard or turning pain into spectacle.
But this book is not only her story.
From it, Freedom opens a broader reflection on life, consciousness, and the way we inhabit the world. On how fear, control, and self-censorship take root—sometimes without us realizing it—in the way we think, feel, and decide.
This book is not self-help.
It is not a healing manual.
And it does not offer easy answers.
It is a work of art transformed into words.
A space for reflection on inner freedom, the body, the mind, faith without dogma, and human dignity.
Although it is born from a specific experience, anyone can recognize themselves in its questions:
- What does it mean to be free today?
- When do we stop deciding for ourselves?
- What is the cost of thinking with awareness?
- Is it possible to transform pain without becoming trapped in it?
Freedom does not explain suffering: it observes what happens when someone stops defining themselves by what was done to them and begins to inhabit life from another place.
This book is addressed to anyone who has lived through experiences of violence, control, or silence, as well as to those who wish to reflect on their lives, question the systems that surround them, and reconnect with their own inner voice.
At the same time, it speaks directly to art collectors, curators, galleries and cultural institutions, and to readers seeking deep thought connected to contemporary artistic practice.
More than a book to consume, Freedom is a book to inhabit.
To read without haste.
To reflect.
To pause.
