From 30 April to 15 May 2026, I present Retrats Femenins: Migrants at the Biblioteca de la Dona in Valencia, a photographic project dedicated to bringing visibility to the stories of migrant women living in the Valencian Community.

The exhibition brings together portraits of women from different countries and cultural backgrounds. Many of them have had to leave their place of origin behind and rebuild their lives in a new environment, in some cases after experiencing violence, exclusion or situations of particular vulnerability.

The project begins with a question: How many stories pass by us without ever truly being seen?

Through photography, in Retrats Femenins: Migrants I focus on each woman’s identity and personal story, moving away from a view of migration based solely on statistics, origins or circumstances.

Portraits accompanied by personal memories

Each portrait is presented alongside a selection of personal photographs chosen by the woman herself.

Images from childhood, family photographs, places, people and significant moments become part of the work, revealing fragments of a life that began long before the experience of migration.

This combination of contemporary portraiture and personal archive turns each piece into an individual story and allows the viewer to approach each woman from a more intimate perspective.

Through this project, I want to show the person behind the word “migrant”: her identity, her memories, her relationships and her ability to rebuild her own life.

Exhibition at the Biblioteca de la Dona

For just over two weeks, I present Retrats Femenins: Migrants at the Biblioteca de la Dona in Valencia, creating a space of encounter between the women portrayed, their stories and the public.

The exhibition invites visitors to stop in front of each portrait and look at migration from a human and personal perspective. It is not only about knowing where each woman comes from, but about discovering who she is.
