Opening of “Female Portraits: Migrants” in Alboraya

October 4th, 2025

On October 2nd, I had the pleasure of inaugurating my photographic exhibition “Retrats Femenins: Migrants” (Female Portraits: Migrants) at the Casa de Cultura of Alboraya. This very special project continues its journey, opening to the public for the third time, after being exhibited for ten months at the Museum of the History of Valencia and later at the Ibercaja Actur Center in Zaragoza.

Each new opening represents, for me, an opportunity to continue giving voice to the women who are part of this work — courageous women from different countries and cultures who have faced difficult and complex realities in their migratory journeys. Through their portraits, and their own personal photographs, I aim to offer an honest and deeply human perspective on female migration, addressing a highly relevant issue with sensitivity and empathy.

Migration is a global phenomenon that continues to shape the direction of our societies. Yet, when we look at it from a female perspective, we discover stories of resilience, strength, and hope. Each of the women portrayed in this exhibition has crossed not only geographical borders, but also emotional and social ones. Their testimonies invite us to reflect on the root causes of migration — conflict, inequality, violence, or the pursuit of a dignified future — and, at the same time, on our own perception of “the other.”

My intention with “Retrats Femenins: Migrants” is precisely that: to change the way we see migrant women, moving away from stereotypes to recognize the strength and dignity that define them. These are women who inspire — women rebuilding their identities far from home, showing us the power of adaptation and hope through their stories.

I am deeply grateful to the Casa de Cultura of Alboraya, the City Council, and everyone who made this new stage of the project possible. It is an honor to share this exhibition in a space where culture is lived with such warmth and commitment.

The exhibition will remain open to the public until October 31st. I invite you to visit, to discover the stories behind each portrait, and to be moved by the gaze of these women who, through silence, speak to us of humanity, courage, and transformation.
