Overcoming (Superación) is an artwork by Séfora Camazano. The painting is a portrait of Myriam. Myriam wears a light pink rose in her hair and a string of pearls around her neck as adornments. The model is wearing an embellished black evening gown.

After experiencing the violence in her home country of Colombia, Myriam made the difficult decision to leave for Spain in search of a safer life. However, her hopes were quickly shattered as her former husband subjected her to various forms of abuse that nearly took her life multiple times. Despite these immense challenges, she demonstrated an unwavering spirit of determination and resilience, which allowed her to overcome these difficult situations.
“Overcoming” aptly describes her incredible strength and perseverance in the face of such adversity.
