Receiving the International Prize “Artists on the French Riviera”
September 19th, 2025
On September 12, in the beautiful city of Nice, I had the profound honor of receiving the prestigious International Prize “Artists on the French Riviera,” awarded by the Fondazione Effetto Arte, at the Musée National du Sport. This recognition marks the third international award for artistic merit in my career, and I am filled with gratitude and reflection as I share this moment.
Being in Nice, a city that has inspired countless painters as Pablo Picasso, Renoir, Monet, Matisse and Chagall with its light, colors, and vibrant atmosphere, was an experience that touched me deeply. Walking through its streets, feeling the gentle rhythm of the Mediterranean, and witnessing the way the sun transforms every surface reminded me of why I create: to capture the beauty, the struggles, and the resilience of the human spirit.
For this edition of the prize, I chose my artwork Diaspora to appear in the art book and catalogue. This piece carries a message that is both urgent and personal. It reflects the plight of those affected by the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine—individuals who bear no fault yet are forced to leave their homes in search of safety and stability. Through Diaspora, I wanted to bear witness to their courage, resilience, and humanity, and to offer a visual reflection on the universal need for shelter, protection, and hope.
Receiving this award is not only a recognition of my work but also a reminder of the responsibility I carry as an artist. Art has the power to transform pain into beauty and silence into testimony. It allows us to connect across borders, cultures, and generations, and to shine a light on stories that must be seen and heard.
I am profoundly grateful to the Fondazione Effetto Arte, to the jury, and to all who have supported my journey. As I continue developing Portraits of the Soul: Transfiguration, my hope is to create works that inspire reflection, dialogue, and faith, bridging the sacred and the human, and reminding us of the resilience and dignity inherent in every story.
