Confidence
Confidence (Confianza) is an artwork by Séfora Camazano. It is an original Giglée Fine Art print on a 100% acid-free cotton canvas with dimensions of 150 x 90 cm. Created in 2022, it is part of the “Female Portraits: Looking Back to the Past” collection.
The painting is a portrait of Alejandra, who is seated and adorned in a “fallera” dress, a traditional Valencian costume, complete with the customary jewelry and hairstyle. She gracefully holds a bouquet of flowers in her hands and rests one foot on a stool. The composition is vibrant, with a profusion of colors and flowers throughout. In the background, we can glimpse a picturesque scene of the Albufera rice fields, featuring “alquerías,” the characteristic structures of this region in Spain.
Alejandra, a Colombian woman, found herself entangled in a series of distressing circumstances that tested her resilience and determination. Firstly, she suffered from gender violence inflicted by two former partners in her home country, Colombia. These traumatic experiences left lasting scars on her emotional and physical well-being.
Adding to her ordeal, Alejandra unwittingly became involved in a fraudulent business venture that not only drained her finances but also subjected her to terrifying death threats. Fearing for her safety and the safety of her beloved daughter, she made the difficult decision to leave her homeland behind and seek refuge in Spain.
Upon arriving in Spain, Alejandra and her daughter faced numerous challenges as they navigated a new culture and social environment. The journey was far from easy, and they encountered hardships that tested their mettle.
“Confidence” captures the essence of Alejandra’s unwavering spirit. It is a poignant portrayal of her steadfast belief that, despite the adversity she has endured, her life will eventually take a turn for the better. Above all, this masterpiece stands as a testament to Alejandra’s resilience and strength she draws from within as she strives for a brighter future for herself and her beloved daughter.
